WhatsApp rolled out its new dark mode feature for iOS and Android users. The feature was rolled out after rigorous beta testing on both mobile platforms, that took months. Users can enable dark mode on Android 10 and iOS 13 by selecting it from the settings menu.
Android 9 users can enable dark mode themes from the WhatsApp settings menu. Facebook aims to reduce the brightness of the phone display, "During testing, we found that combining pure black and white creates high contrast that can lead to eye fatigue. So instead, you’ll notice a special dark gray background and off-white color that lowers the brightness of the screen, cuts down the glare and improves contrast and readability." as explained by a WhatsApp spokesperson.
Dark Mode is a purely black theme on iOS and a darker grey on Android. Users can try the latest version of WhatsApp from Apple’s App Store or the Google Play Store.
