The Matrice 300RTK is DJI's latest commercial platform inspired by modern aviation systems features a long-life battery, a six-sided obstacle sensor, and up to 15km of video range. Matrice is DJI's longstanding series of all-in-one industrial products. The models in this series are much larger and more practical than the consumer and prosumer models, and have market-specific features. While consumers use drones primarily for videography, businesses and public services are beginning to look at data collection by drone.
Matrice 300RTK is built for data collection and aerial surveying. Two types of camera modules are available. The H20 model is equipped with a 20MP camera with an optical 23x zoom, a wide-angle 12MP camera, and a laser rangefinder that can measure distances from 3 meters to 1200 meters. The H20T model has a thermal camera added to the sensor array. By integrating various functions, this drone has automation functions such as fixed-point shooting. Just mark the controller screen and the drone can be instructed to automatically shoot from the same location and angle. It also can track moving objects.
Like other high-end DJI models, the Matrice 300 has a dual operator model that allows two people to operate the drone. If desired, control can be passed to a pilot at the other end of the Matrice 300's range of motion, which greatly improves flight range and safety. DJI has incorporated numerous improvements into this latest drone. It is possible to protect 360-degree by arranging collision detection sensors on the 6 sides of the drone. The new controller that comes with the Matrice 300 will also have the latest flight software, which will import pilot experience.
Battery life has also been greatly improved. According to DJI, the flight time of the Matrice 300 is 55 minutes, well ahead of the 38 minutes of the Matrice 200 and 27 minutes of the Inspire 2 for prosumers. The dual battery mechanism allows the batteries to be hot-swapped without powering down while the drone is on the ground.
Coming to the price tag, the company has not been announced and the Matrice 300 RTK will be sold through DJI dealers in the second half of 2020.
