Facebook has received much criticism about protecting user privacy and is working hard to fix the issue. Meanwhile, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg describes a new privacy management feature that Facebook is working on in a blog post, and the new section is called "Off-Facebook activity" like Facebook clear history tool. Users can view which all third-parties share user interactions with the social network platform even while not directly using Facebook.
Facebook posted, "Off-Facebook activity includes information that businesses and organizations share with us about your interactions with them. Interactions are things like visiting their website or logging into their app with Facebook. Off- Facebook activity does not include customer lists that businesses use to show a unique group of customer’s relevant ads. When you visit a website or use an app, these businesses or organizations can share information about your activity with us by using our businesses tools. We use this activity to personalize your experience, such as showing you relevant ads. We also require that businesses and organizations provide notice to people before using our business tools.”
Facebook announced about the ability to manage activities outside of Facebook, in 2018, but due to the Cambridge Analytical Scandal, it only rolled out to three countries after facing months of delays. “Off-Facebook Activity marks a new level of transparency and control. We’ve been working on this for a while because we had to rebuild some of our systems to make this possible.” Zuckerberg wrote.
On Data Privacy Day, Facebook announced to users about reviewing their privacy, directing them to the Privacy Checkup Tool. To actually manage activities outside of Facebook to view Facebook clear history tool click “Settings —> Your Facebook Information —> Off-Facebook Activity.
