The novel Coronavirus has caused lot of deaths due to late identification of the infection. Also, the hospital visit is nowadays very dangerous. To alleviate the circumstances Amazon has came up with an innovative idea. They have tried to help Seattle residents by taking the COVID-19 to their houses.
The test are provided by the Seattle Coronavirus Assessment Network (SCAN), which is now dedicated to better understanding the spread of coronavirus interactions. It is funded by Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates's private Gates Ventures investment group and receives technical support from his philanthropic group, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
The effort is reflected in the San Francisco Bay Area, funded by Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s philanthropic and medical research group. Both represent some of the most significant corporate investments in trying to remedy the federal government's failure to conduct extensive testing into the US.
Test deliveries and pickups will be carried out through the existing Amazon Care section, an internal health care platform dedicated to Amazon employees and their families. Yet the COVID-19 test is not limited to Amazon employees. Anyone in the Seattle area, including children and those who do not show flu-like symptoms, will be eligible for SCAN.
Kristen Helton, the director of Amazon Care, stated to CNBC "Responding to the rapidly evolving COVID-19 crisis must be a community effort and requires support from both the private and public sectors." He added that,“We are grateful to be surrounded by a strong community of public health, global health and academic leaders and are eager to leverage Amazon Care’s infrastructure and logistics capabilities to support this local effort.”
Seattle has heavily hitten by the Corona pandemic. This effort can help the area, for atleast identifying the infection faster without going to the hospital.
