WhatsApp is now trying to add more privacy to all users at present. In addition to the biometric security that WhatsApp provided for the iOS version last year. It was announced that the app on android can now be locked with the fingerprint. In other words, you should use your fingerprint even after unlocking your phone. This is like double-layer protection from intruders to your WhatsApp account and chats.
The Facebook-owned messaging platform affirmed, "Earlier this year, we rolled out Touch ID and Face ID for iPhone to provide an extra layer of security for WhatsApp users. Today we're introducing similar authentication, allowing you to unlock the app with your fingerprint, on supported Android phones."
How to Enable the Feature
Once the app is updated, users can get access to this feature by taping
Settings > Privacy > Fingerprint lock and scan your fingerprint to confirm the authentication.
Once the fingerprint is enabled, you will only be able to access the chats by punching into the WhatsApp every time. You can replay to the WhatsApp calls and notification when it is locked without using the fingerprint authentication. Also, the users can delay the finger lock from 30 seconds to 1 minute.
The feature announcement of WhatsApp was just like a blog post on its website. The feature will be available from November 1st. cant you find the feature in your WhatsApp settings? Just wait until the it reaches you. The requirements are just the latest version of WhatsApp and a fingerprint scanner on your phone. Therefore you will see the option reaching you soon enough. But, why would someone need protection on WhatsApp when there is already a face detector and fingerprint scanner in the device itself?
