2019 was the year when smartphones with many features were released. The most important of these are the 5G and foldable smartphones. Only a handful of companies have now revealed 5G smartphones and many of them are trying to bring 5G technology to their smartphones. Leading smartphone manufacturers such as Samsung, Huawei and OnePlus have launched 5G smartphones on 2019 end. The smartphones of these companies have not been released at affordable prices for the vast majority of India looking forward to the 5G era.
The cost of bringing 5G support to smartphones and 5G mode is high. That is why these smartphones are so expensive. Reports suggest that the price tag for 5G smartphones is likely to change by next year. Chipset maker Qualcomm has already announced three new 5G support chipsets. Qualcomm's Snapdragon 865, Snapdragon 765 and Snapdragon 765G chipsets with 5G support.
The Snapdragon 865 is a high-end product and smartphones that use it will also be at a premium level because it is an expensive chipset. However, Snapdragon 765 and Snapdragon 765G are chipsets that are aimed at midrange smartphones. All three of these new chipsets come with built-in 5G mode. That means smartphone companies won't have to spend money to buy another 5G modem. This will reduce the cost of production.
Alex Katouzian, senior vice president and general manager of Qualcomm Technologies Mobile, said "“Our expanded portfolio including Snapdragon 765 and 765G has has the potential to make 5G accessible to billions of smartphone users around the world and help enable experience like high-speed gaming, intelligent multi-camera capture, and all-day battery life, on a global scale.”
Almost all leading smartphone companies are use Qualcomm's chipsets for upcoming devices. By 2020, most companies expect to include Qualcomm's own 5G modem chipsets when they upgrade their chipsets. With the introduction of 5G smartphones in the market, their prices will naturally come down. Huawei is the only major smartphone manufacturer that does not use a Qualcomm chipset. But they have already developed their own 5G chipset. On 2020. Samsung and OnePlus is going to release 5G smartphone called Galaxy S11 series and OnePlus 8 Series and Xiaomi is plan to release ten 5G devices in 2020.
